Wuhan's first subway vehicle ,with the signature color of the Metro Line 2 as plum red, left the production line in CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd on April 19th. The Vice Mayor Hu Lisan said in the ceremony that 'Wuhan is getting closer to fully Metro era.'

The first-stage construction of Line 2 uses the same B-type vehicle that has 6 cars contained by 4 EMU and 2 trailers as Line 1.The vehicle is about 118 meters long with a passage capacity of 1440 and the maximum operating speed is 80 km / h. About 30 trains(180 vehicles) will be operated each day during the early opening of the subway.

The first-stage construction of Line 2 starting from Jinyintan Station at Machi Road to Optical Valley Station has a total length of 27.7 km with 21 stations, linking the large commercial and public activity centers up as Changqing Park, Hankou Railway Station, Wangjiadun Business Zone, Jianghan Road walking street, Hongshan square, shopping district of Zhongnan Road and Luxiang Optical Valley Plaza, which has been honored as the "golden corridor" through the Changjiang River.
