Wuhan plans to launch several international flights in 2017, including the direct air lines to Sydney and St. Petersburg and the all-cargo airlines to the countries in Europe, North America and along the “Belt and Road” Initiatives.

The direct flights between Wuhan and Sydney, the largest city in Australia, was opened on 27 January this year by China Eastern Airlines (Wuhan). The aircraft will depart from Wuhan on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11:40 pm, arriving in Sydney at 1:30 pm the next day. At present, Wuhan is planing the flights to St. Petersburg and adding the flights to Rome and Dubai.

Concerning the air cargo, Tianhe Airport's freight capacity has exceeded 23,000 tons, increasing by 60 percent over the previous year. In the future, Wuhan will open the air cargo routes linking Europe and North America.
