Wuhan international air routes to boom with T3 Terminal

With the official operation of Wuhan Tianhe Airport’s T3 Terminal, the Hubei branch officies of China Southern Airlines and Air China, China Eastern Airlines Wuhan Company and Uni-Top Airlines announced that they are planning to open air-passenger services linking Wuhan with London, North America, Auckland and the first all-cargo service to Europe by early next year.

In the first half of 2017, Wuhan Tianhe Airport handled over 11.41 million passengers, an increase of 13.87 percent, occupied by overseas passengers of 1.275 million, ranking the No.1 in central China with a growth of 8.6 percent. The cargo and mail transportation handling volume reached 91,000 tons, including the 14,000 tons from overseas regions, up 10.9 percent and 48.4 percent, respectively.

In terms of the air-passenger service, Wuhan Tianhe Airport’s passenger throughput for overseas regions amounted to over 2.3 million in 2016, up 32.3 percent year on year, maintaining the first in four consecutive years in central China.

During the first six months this year, Wuhan opened 53 international air lines, including 41 regular and 7 non-scheduled air routes as well as 5 cargo air routes.
