An art exhibition themed "The Culture of Jew's Harp in the World" opens in Hubei Provincial Museum on August 10, 2017.

One fifth of China Nationalities Museum's collection of jew's harps are on display in Hubei, offering lovers and learners of jew's harp a good opportunity to get a deep understanding of its culture.

Jew's harp, also known as mouth harp, is a lamellophone instrument. It consists of a flexible metal or bamboo tongue or reed attached to a frame. The tongue/reed is placed in the performer's mouth and plucked with the finger to produce a note.

China Nationalities Museum has collected over 1000 sets of jew's harps from nearly 100 countries and regions around the world. More than 200 sets are displayed in Hubei.
