Two international tourism events to open in Wuhan

The Meeting of Tourism Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and “EU-China Light Bridge” activity of 2018 EU-China Tourism Year will be held in Wuhan, capital city of central China’s Hubei Province, from May 7 to 11, 2018.

The Meeting of Tourism Ministers of SCO, lasting from May 7 to 11, is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Hubei Provincial People’s Government. As a significant event for SCO in the area of humanities, the meeting is intended to enhance the tourism exchanges, seek cooperation in tourism and further develop good-neighborly and friendly relations between member countries on the basis of building common tourism space. On the meeting, representatives of the Ministry of Tourism of the eight SCO member countries will share the cooperation fruits and experience in tourism as well as map out the direction of further cooperation.

Meanwhile, activities like symposium on tourism cooperation of SCO, promotion conference for Hubei tourism and the Night of Wuhan will take place to strengthen tourism ties and cooperation between SCO member countries.

2018 EU-China Tourism Year will highlight the activity of “EU-China Light Bridge”, during which, 33 landmarks in 18 Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Yichang will shine in blue of the EU flag. On May 10, it will launch in Wuhan at the Yellow Crane Tower under the witness of representatives from EU and SCO member countries.

During the activity of EU-China Light Bridge in Wuhan, the Yellow Crane Tower, Yangtze River, Han River and both river banks of them will be illuminated by lights of red, the colour of the Chinese national flag and blue, the colour of the EU flag. After that, the light show will be staged to present Wuhan’s cultural and tourism resources.

As early as March, a number of major European landmarks and scenic areas have been lit up by lights of red to mark the Chinese Lantern Festival, the last day of the Lunar New Year celebrations in China. (en.hubei.gov.cn)
