Wuhan maps out comprehensive transportation system for 2018-2020

Wuhan introduced a comprehensive transportation system for future three years (2018-2020), which involved expanding Tianhe International Airport, building Guanggu Railway Station and a TOD transfer center in the Yangtze River Demonstration District, etc.

By the end of 2020, the total number of passenger and cargo navigable points at Tianhe International Airport will reach 150, including 60 international and regional navigable points. And passenger and cargo throughput will reach 35 million people and 500,000 tons respectively, with international and regional passenger throughput reaching 4.5 million.

A high-speed railway network and a freight railway network centered on Wuhan are scheduled to be established. From 2018 to 2020, a series of initiatives, including the construction of the Guanggu Railway Station and the New Hanyang Railway Station, the establishment of the Wuhan Asia-Europe Logistics Park as well as the operation of China-Europe freight trains, will achieve the international operation network and make Wuhan rank in the forefront of China in terms of the actual load rate.

By 2020, a multi-level highway network in Wuhan will be built, which mainly consists of the Fourth ring road, the outer ring line, the radial high-speed roads and the national and provincial roads.

Wuhan will be built into a world-class metro city by 2020, with the total volume of public transportation and the level of development ranking among the top five of China. The mileage of rail transit operations will exceed 400 kilometers, and the total number of public transportation will exceed 10 million.(hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei)
