Wuhan to ban smoking in all indoor public places
On July 29, the 23rd meeting of the 14th Standing Committee of the Wuhan Municipal People's Congress voted to pass a regulation on smoke control in Wuhan, stipulating that smoking is prohibited in indoor public places and workplaces as well as on public transport vehicles.
Anyone has the say to request smokers immediately stop smoking. Mayor's hotline “12345” accepts counseling and complaints about smoke control.
The regulations make it clear that smoking is also prohibited in such outdoor premises relating to education, teaching, medical care and other places serving minors or pregnant women, open-air audience seating area in stadiums and performance venues, the outdoor area of the cultural relics protection unit open to the public, and other outdoor areas where smoking is prohibited by laws and regulations.
To guarantee enforcement of the regulations, it also states that the fine for violations ranges from RMB 50 to 200.
