French car parts supplier Valeo inaugurates largest R & D center in Wuhan
On October 14, French car parts supplier Valeo inaugurated the largest global R & D center in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province, local media reported.
The R&D center covers an area of 14,000 square meters, including R&D equipment and finished automobile labs. It is supposed to embrace more than 1,000 high-end personnel and become the largest R&D center of Valeo Group.
Founded in 1923 in Saint-Ouen, Valeo is a French global automotive supplier headquartered in France. It supplies a wide range of products to automakers and the aftermarket. The Group has 186 production plants, 59 R&D centers and 15 distribution platforms in 33 countries worldwide. In 2018, Valeo's sales rose 4 percent to 19.3 billion euros, among which China became the largest market.
The Valeo Group is one of the first Fortune 500 companies introduced in Hubei. In 1994, Valeo Automotive Air Conditioning (Hubei) Co., Ltd was established in Jingzhou as a joint venture. Since then, Valeo has invested in a number of factories and technology centers in China, dedicated to the production of air conditioning, automobile lighting, powertrain thermal systems and automobile lighting technology centers.
The R&D center is estimated to create 500-plus engineer jobs in the next five years, supporting the province to build a world-class innovation demonstration zone of Intelligent Connected Vehicles and Intelligent Transportation.（hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei）
