Wan Yong meets with delegation of Dutch Greenhouse Delta

On November 18, Wan Yong, vice-governor of Hubei Province met with a delegation headed by Gert Dral, the consultant of Advisory Committee of Dutch Greenhouse Delta and the CEO of Jiashan Greenport Sino-Dutch AgriTech Co. Ltd., in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province.

Wan extended warm welcome to the delegation, and stated that Hubei lies in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, which functions as an important production base for agricultural products, a comprehensive transportation hub as well as a developed area of science and education. Located at the intersection of major development strategies such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, Hubei has become a strategic place for domestic and foreign investors.

He added that Hubei and Gelderland have established friendly relations, with their capital becoming sister cities. The development direction of Dutch Greenhouse Delta keeps in with Hubei’s modern agriculture, which enjoys a vast space of cooperation. Following the consensus reached by the two heads of states when Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to the Netherlands in 2014, we should deepen cooperation and exchanges in the fields of modern agricultural park construction, agricultural high-tech application and agricultural product trade, so as to establish a normalized communication mechanism to gain more cooperative results.

Gert Dral expressed appreciation for Hubei’s support. He noted that Dutch Greenhouse Delta has focused on the agricultural development in Hubei. It is hoped that a favorable cooperative relationship between the two sides will be established to promote the agriculture-related cooperation projects.(hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei)
